"A very professional and patient photographer. She helped our family to record a precious moment in our life. The photos are gorgeous! We will definitely find Lu to take photos for us if we have baby no. 2 in the future."

After years of dreaming, since starting Lullaby Images back in 2016, I was finally ready to open the doors of the Lullaby Images' home studio. I had everything I needed in place. The most gorgeous soft natural light from floor to ceiling, 4 meter wide windows. Intentionally designed open living space to turn the space into a pop up home studio … or an open dance floor for my 3 year oldQ! Then just as I was about to officially launch, the pandemic hit Hong Kong and the air was heavy with uncertainty. We decided to hit pause on our plans to open up the Lullaby Images home studio.

I am so grateful though that despite the covid-19 pandemic, I have been able to continue to do what I love, with in-home client newborn photography sessions across Hong Kong. I only felt the need to pause my photo services for about 5 weeks, twice, with each covid spike in March and August. As I approached the third trimester of my pregnancy in September, it was becoming more and more physically challenging, than my first one back in 2017. So with a better understanding of the local pandemic situation and given how difficult it was becoming to carry all my photography gear to a client's home, I decided to softly launch my home studio for my remaining booked shoots before stopping for my maternity leave.

This photoshoot with baby Matt was actually the fourth studio photoshoot I’ve done in the tail end of this year. The outcome of his collection is exactly what I had hoped and dreamed to capture, in my specialist Lullaby Images minimalist style with perfect lighting. Pure. Simple. Timeless. I absolutely adore his collection and I am so grateful to his parents for being accommodating by coming out to my home studio, despite our original plans. I am now officially on maternity leave, as I approach week 36 of my pregnancy, with two only photoshoots left to edit this week. I am looking forward to a bit more nesting for the baby (most likely more of a mad last minute panic) and will be carving out time as much time as possible, to spend with my Anya before we meet her brother in December.

After my maternity leave, all being well, from May 2021 I will be softly restarting photo sessions again exclusively from my home studio. Watch this space for a feature on the space and some behind the scenes posts, as I get to play with my own newborn in December & January! I will be holding off committing to any in client home photography sessions, until at least the tail end of next year, when I have a better handle on juggling my two little ones.

Here are just a few highlight images from baby Matt’s Lullaby Images’ studio newborn photography session, though it was seriously tough picking only this small selection because I love them all!

I am a Hong Kong based photographer specialising exclusively in newborn and baby portraits, establishing Lullaby Images in 2016. I have extensive training in newborn baby posing and safety. I am a mum to a fiercely independent toddler who loves little adventures. With both professional and personal experience with tiny humans, baby safety and comfort is at the heart of all my photo sessions.

I hate saying 'no'. Help me say it less by reaching out to talk about your newborn photography session well before your due date. I only take on a limited number of bookings a month and many Mamas reach out to me in their second trimester to book in their sesion.
