I had been holding off from confirming advance bookings for September and October 2017, as I wasn’t sure how I would be feeling in my third trimester. Thankfully though, after a month away in August relaxing, I’m grateful that it’s been going very well and I found myself missing my sessions quite a bit. I was so happy to have arranged some last minute sessions with some lovely ladies, for the month of October. Meet beautiful Rheia. A gorgeous baby girl who has the most incredible pout i've ever seen. Born at the end of September, our studio session in Sheung Wan took place at only 14 days new. I forgot how much I missed cuddling with little ones, especially when they are so tiny.

Unlike candid lifestyle family newborn photography sessions which can be wrapped up in 1-2 hours, a traditional art style posed newborn session can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, as they are entirely baby lead. Just when a parent may feel like a rhythm, habit or routine is established, it may be totally out the window on that day, simply because it is just one of those days! Newborns adapt to so many changes in their first few weeks, no two days are that predictable.

As usual, I made sure to clear my schedule so that our newborn photo shoot could go with the flow without any rushing, and so we could just relax and enjoy the session. This ensures generally that there is plenty of time for soothing, cuddling, top up feeds and going through a flow of poses on my newborn posing bean bag, as well as a few compositions using props, if the parents desire. I really enjoy this session getting to know Rheia’s parents, such a lovely family.

Hong Kong Newborn Baby Photographer Lullaby Images

I am a Hong Kong based photographer specialising exclusively in newborn and baby portraits, establishing Lullaby Images in 2016. I have extensive training in newborn baby posing and safety. I am a mum to a fiercely independent toddler who loves little adventures. With both professional and personal experience with tiny humans, baby safety and comfort is at the heart of all my photo sessions.

I hate saying 'no'. Help me say it less by reaching out to talk about your newborn photography session well before your due date. I only take on a limited number of bookings a month and many Mamas reach out to me in their second trimester to book in their session.
