"We loved that Lu was extremely patient as baby Bryce did not fall asleep after being wrapped. Even after 3 hours have passed, Lu still took her time to do a lot of different poses so that gave us a nice variety to select from. We were very pleased with the softproof gallery and Lu also did further editing for us after we gave her some feedback. The turnaround time was fast. Overall, we were extremely pleased and were glad that we chose her for this important task. We will treasure this memory for a lifetime"

Recently, I've had a lot of enquiries concerned about scheduling sessions outside of the 14 day new window. Typically, most newborn photographers prefer to schedule their sessions when the little one is only 5-14 days new. I actually moved away from the 5-10 days new window last year, as I found that most parents and newborns need a little more time to find their new rhythms and quite a few times, the feeding hadn’t been quite established yet, so the little one wasn’t getting a good feed to be milk drunk for the session. Given my years of experience specialising as a newborn photographer, I have endless patience and the confidence to be able to book these sessions up to when a baby is 30 days new for traditional posed compositions, with my perfect window being 17-21 days new, or even later for lifestyle photography.
I hate to think of the pressure that new parents must feel when they are told they have missed the window. There are so many beautiful images that can be captured no matter the age, it’s just about managing expectations on what can be achieved based on the age of the baby. So if you have your heart set on the traditional poses, e.g. bum up, hands on chin, side lying, huck fin, womb / taco or froggy, then do reach out early enough to avoid disappointment, so you don’t miss your window. If it’s beyond 30 days since your little one was born, don’t fret, there are still some gorgeous natural connections in a more candid lifestyle photography that can immortalise those early months.
Introducing baby Bryce. This little one had cheeks and hair for days! Photographed at only 21 days new, we did a home bespoke photography session capturing him in traditional newborn photography poses, as well as some of my favourite poses incorporating his parents arms and hands. He was a great little model and had all that wonderful squish factor, #allthefeels. Here are a few highlight images from our session last month.
I am a Hong Kong based photographer specialising exclusively in newborn and baby portraits, establishing Lullaby Images in 2016. I have extensive training in newborn baby posing and safety. I am a mum to a fiercely independent toddler who loves little adventures. With both professional and personal experience with tiny humans, baby safety and comfort is at the heart of all my photo sessions.
I hate saying 'no'. Help me say it less by reaching out to talk about your newborn photography session well before your due date. I only take on a limited number of bookings a month and many Mamas reach out to me in their second trimester to book in their session.
