After starting Lullaby Images specialising exclusively in newborn photography in 2016, I dabbled and explored so many different styles and corners of this specialised area. Pastel Colours. Vivid colours. Props. Tu-tus. You name it, I've played with it. Towards the end of last year though, I finally found myself gravitating to a very clear distinct style. I fell more and more in love with the pure and simple. Being able to photograph newborns, in a way that beautifully showcases their unique details as the primary element in an image, stealing your eyes.

For me, this means less is more. It means neutrals. More specifically, it means whites. There is nowhere to hide with white. No distractions... and actually, doing 'white' right, is not as easy as it looks. The majority of my sessions are done in my clients homes, not a studio specially designed for light and airy, so I am often working against colour casts from ambient furnishings, and rarely do I have the space for a professional studio light setup... Let's just say, doing white right can be a challenge and I believe that gorgeous lighting, is at the core of it all.

Throughout most of my relationship with photography since 2000, I have been flirting with light. Dancing with it. Learning how to use it, wherever I am. For me, it is what will make or break an image, especially when it is so pure without any colours or props to hide behind. It showcases the baby's skin tone beautifully and highlights the baby's macro details in a way that captivates you . The penultimate reason I love it though, is for my original love, my love of black and white photographs. When the image is neutral and white, it converts in the most truly stunningly way, into a high key black and white image, exuding that truly classic timeless quality that I so adore. As a baby photographer, I want my images to stand the test of time. To be able to record your baby's features in a way that when you look back at the collection in a year or even ten, you swoon over how tiny they once were and pine for the days when they still had that gorgeous newborn baby scent as you cuddled them so close.

Whilst I have donated most of my louder colour scheme blanket backdrops to charity, I still love to offer my clients the versatility and choice of pops of colour. So with that in mind, I have kept my extensive library of coloured wraps, hats and flower halos, incorporating them into my newborn galleries to offer some range and diversity. I still also have a gorgeous selection of wooden crates, buckets, nests and baskets, airing more towards the white and organic styles... and as always, I am still found sitting on my balcony while my toddler is napping, with a ball of yarn creating a wrap or hat for my ever growing collection of newborn props.

I am a Hong Kong based photographer specialising exclusively in newborn and baby portraits, establishing Lullaby Images in 2016. I have extensive training in newborn baby posing and safety. I am a mum to a fiercely independent toddler who loves little adventures. With both professional and personal experience with tiny humans, baby safety and comfort is at the heart of all my photo sessions.

I hate saying 'no'. Help me say it less by reaching out to talk about your newborn photography session well before your due date. I only take on a limited number of bookings a month and many Mamas reach out to me in their second trimester to book in their session.
